I have now totally changed my front cover. instead of having a blue background i have decided to use the main image as my background. but i havent totally got rid of the blue background. i have left some at the top that now becomes a skyline that has the name of the school in it, which is 'Lordswood Girls' School And Specialist For Media Art's'. The skyline is in a yellow colour and has the font perpetua. i have also found a logo of the lordswood basketball academy, i made the inside of the logo transparent so you can see more of the image. i have placed a barcode in the bottom right hand corner where you would find a barcode on any magazine front cover. there is some small text at the bottom of the magazine which talks about if you need more information then go to this website. It has a kicker near the bottom of the magazine and it also has three straplines that are coloured either yellow or white. I have also stuck to one style of font.

start of my front cover

On continuing with creating my front cover i have decided on my background colour, which is blue the schools main colour. I have also decided on the colour and type of font for my masthead, which is for my font, perpetua and the colour is yellow. I have used yellow as it is again a colour that symbolises Lordswood girls' school it is used within the uniform and on the school tie. i have also found the school emblem or logo on google which was on the Clive marks website. I then cropped the image and used the magnetic lasso tool, so its just the image with no background.

Starting the magazine front cover

To start the magazine front cover you had to plan ideas of what sort of magazine you would like to be your outcome. As basketball is now a big part of our 6th form i decided to focus on that for the front cover. i have decide to stick to the main colour of the school which is blue and yellow, this will easily show that its aimed at our school. I have decided where to position the masthead and the main image that will be on the front cover. for next lesson i will have my photograph taken ready to be used on the front cover.

Dwell Magazine

In order to create this magazine i had to look at many connotations and conventions to consider the target audience of the magazines front cover. I had to use a limited number of colours as less is more and too many colours will would be too messy and distracting. The colours i have used are a pale blue for the back ground and for the text black and grey. I have used these colours as i wanted the magazine be different to all other magazines, a typical women's magazine would use colours such as pinks and reds but mine would stand out as its not the typical magazine front cover. There is also another colour 'red' but it's only used once this is made to stand out, i have used it on the price so that it draws attention to the reader straight away. I have also used one type of typography throughout the magazine front cover. The image of 'Kiera Knightly' is the only image on the magazine, this is to show that it's the main storyline. The main image draws attention to the reader as it dominates the page, the model 'Keira Knightly' is facing straight on which invites the audience as she is looking right at them. The straplines are positioned around the image to show that the image is again more important. The straplines also show there's losts of story's that women would like to read about, including true story's, fashion and gossip. The image also covers part of the title which indicates that the magazine is well know as it's not as important to show the name. The magazine front cover has many layers apart of it, the number of layers allow you position components of the magazine freely around the page.
